Wales’ B Corp portfolio is blossoming. With Welsh Government providing access to expertise and training for businesses to become greener and more sustainable, it allows businesses to get that much closer to their sustainability goals, including B Corp.
In a world increasingly attuned to the environmental needs of the planet, it is becoming a prerequisite for food and drink manufacturers to be producing their goods with sustainability at the forefront of their thinking.
It seems likely that in the long run, those retailers and manufacturers who demonstrate business responsibility through sustainable improvements in environmental, social, health and quality values will be most favoured by consumers.

Welsh B Corp stars
Barti Rum, founded in 2017, blends Caribbean rum with handpicked Pembrokeshire laver seaweed for a rich, smooth flavour. Certified B Corp in 2024, the company champions sustainability and ethical business. Barti is perfect for sipping or mixing, with notes of vanilla, spice, and citrus, inspired by west Wales sunsets.
Located in Ammanford, Coaltown Coffee roasts ethically sourced green coffee from the best producers from around the world. With an ethos to create delicious coffee while holding the planet, people and profit with equal regard, it became B Corp certified in 2019, and was one of the first coffee companies in the UK to achieve this.
Launched in June 2019 by young couple Joelle and Sarah, Drop Bear Beer Co. produces alcohol-free craft beers. With a mission statement that promises to ‘brew the best 0.5% ABV craft beers and build a better world in which to drink them” the company is certified carbon neutral and became a B Corp in 2021, the first B Corp brewery in Wales.
Golden Hooves (First Milk) is a British farmer-owned co-op producing premium dairy through regenerative practices. From award-winning cheese to sustainable farming, they prioritise biodiversity, carbon capture, and water stewardship. A real living wage employer, they invest in people through training, apprenticeships, and volunteering – building a resilient, future-focused dairy community.
While Anglesey-based Halen Môn continues to scoop awards for its sea salt products, it also works tirelessly to ensure that its people and the planet are its priorities. Following support from Welsh Government’s Food and Drink Sustainability Cluster, the company joined the B Corp community in 2023.
In 2022, Hilltop became the first honey brand in the UK to become B Corp certified. Since seeking B Corp accreditation, the company has experienced many benefits such as improvements in energy efficiency, waste reduction, packaging, community engagement and employee engagement.
MamGu Welshcakes are based in a beautiful and vibrant 14th century Grade 2 listed building adjoined to St David’s Cathedral. Sustainability is at the heart of their work, along with local people and the environment. They are proud to be employing over fourty bakers, food caterers and coffee makers who live locally to the business.
Tiny Rebel, known for bold beers and good times, became B Corp certified in April 2024. After 18 months of transformation, the team proudly champions people, planet, and community. This milestone reflects their commitment to positive impact, collaboration, and continuous improvement – proving they are brewing for good.
Welsh Coffee Co. sell small batches of high-quality, speciality grade coffee. With a brand ethos rooted in sustainability, mindfulness and coastal living, their style is similar to the “new wave” coffee roasters based in Scandinavia and Australia, with a focus on lighter roasted coffee which is better in quality and taste.
Wholebake is a manufacturer of healthy snacks, including gluten free. The company has always placed entrepreneurial flair and customer needs at its core, but alongside this has always sought to operate with a conscience. With these core values indicating a natural fit, Wholebake became certified B Corp in 2021.
