Global demand for sheep milk continues to rise, driven by consumer appetite for high-protein, digestible, and premium dairy alternatives, particularly artisan cheeses and functional health products. This momentum positions Wales to establish itself as a premium producer in a growing global market, building upon a world class sheep sector.

Dairy Sheep Milk Cluster

The long-term vision for the Welsh Dairy Sheep Sector is to support 100 producers milking 30,000 ewes, generating over 11 million litres of milk annually within 10 years. Achieving this requires simultaneous development across the entire supply chain.

Interest in the sector is strong with over 80% of farmers surveyed willing to explore sheep dairying in the next three years.
